Newracers: Check In! Dec01

A New Partner in Racing.

Hey there! Happy Holidays!

Having been around motorcycle road racing since 1960
I've seen and been a part of  change for long enough,
to know what's coming next and that is...."Change."

Even the fact that your winning!
Does not change a thing!

Colin Edwards and Kenny Roberts Jr. can attest to that.
Matt Mladin and Kurtis Roberts also felt the change this
year, right here in the US.

What is a constant.....Is change itself.
So. What worked for you last year, rarely will work for
you, as well, in the coming season.

It might be a small change in diet by your nearest rivals
that allows them to come off the corner faster than you
and accumulate in yardage all the way to the next corner.

Don't laugh!
I've already seen on the Internet bulletin boards that so
and so is possibly fast because of his size and I also
noticed in print that certain GP riders of certain stature
"should" be quick because of their size.

Well.
Weight loss of both, the bike and yourself are definitely
within your resolve and your budget, but it is just a small
part of the ongoing changes that should happen in order
to make you a winner or even, to stay a winner.

Need Newrider Info?  www.io.com/~duke/newrrfaq.htm

This past season, I saw riders start off the year
full of promise, only to disappear very quickly off the scene.
Others. Who had a terrible time keeping things going the
previous year followed up with another bad season.

I'm pleased to say that the opposite was also true
with some riders who considered themselves average
or slow at the beginning.
"Blossomed fourth. Or was it third."

One guy, who broke on a regular basis last year.
Changed something and became one of the winners.

I hope to hear from all these people this winter.
So these experiences can be passed on to others
and be of benefit to the new rider.

Seems like the winter could be a short one this year.
How's that for change. Na. Just wishful thinking.

So. After you finish off that "smaller" serving of turkey.
Consider putting out on display, all those gifts you got
in your workshop, on the bench. Yes, the bench!

Surely, no one is going to buy you something that you
cannot use in racing next year?
"Cor blimey! Sum muvvers do av um!"

Then make a list of what fits and what is missing from
your bench. Er, wish list.
See if you can afford to get it and if you can't.
Then make plans according to what you can afford.

This all helps relieve those last minute rushes
before the season starts and cuts down on the
hassles of pieces becoming out of stock at the
most crucial time.

So I done the above.
I paid up my share of the endurance race crash
damage at our season ending banquet and now
have very little to do this winter to get the SV650
ready for its debut at the new race track in Iowa.

I've come to the conclusion as to what the bike
will be used for and have priced the season
accordingly. Hence, no suprises ahead. Yer, right!

I wish I had done this on a regular basis many
years ago. I would have saved a small fortune.
But when your winning!
Nothing changes. Eh!
